ABC Wins in a Blowout

By John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 6/11/2004 8:01:00 AM

In early Nielsen Media Research returns from Thursday, ABC won the night convincingly with a 5.0 rating/15 share for its coverage of Detroit's blowout win over the Lakers in the third game of the National Basketball Association Finals. Those numbers are sure to increase when the L.A. returns are all in.

That's according to Fast National numbers that do not include some West Coast viewers.

CBS took second with a 3.0/9 for Joan of Arcadia, CSI, and Without a Trace. NBC was in third place with a 2.3/7 for Friends, Come To Papa, Will & Grace, Scrubbs, and ER. Fox followed with a 1.9/6 for double doses of That 70's Show and Tru Calling.

UPN wrestled fifth place from the WB with a 1.3/4 for WWE Smackdown. The WB recorded a .7/2 for its live Pepsi Smash music show, but that number could also tick upwards when all the returns are in.
