CBS Ups Dinan at Evening News
By John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 9/17/2007 8:48:00 AM
Chris Dinan, a producer for CBS' Evening News for the past seven years, has been named the senior broadcast producer for the CBS Evening News With Katie Couric, effective immediately.
Dinan has spent the past 20 years at CBS News, including for the morning show and before that radio, starting in 1987.
CBS has been looking for a lift for the broadcast, which suffered some of its lowest ratings in 20 years this summer.

Good luck to Dinan. I'm no TV news expert, but I absolutely knew that
Katie Couric wouldn't work in that position, and she never will. Her NBC
gig was perfect for her, and her superficial and overtly liberal
understanding of the world was never going to give her credibility or
depth. Morning fluff is the order for her. The people making this move
did a huge disservice to Katie, the CBS News tradition and the
stockholders. I'm surprised more top heads haven't rolled. This episode
is the poster-child for the end of broadcast news.

Get a clue here..when Bob Shieffer took over the CBS Evening News, the ratings improved! Does that not tell you that senior Americans are the ones that watch the news, and that most appreciate a newscaster in their age group. Since older people are the in the majority, why would you not cater to their preference?!
