Former Broadcasting & Cable editor in chief J. Max Robins is joining The Paley Center for Media, formerly The Museum of Television & Radio, as vice president and executive director of the center’s Media Council and International Council.

Robins was named to his new post by Paley Center president and CEO Pat Mitchell.
The media council is a forum where executives and influencers discuss and define the future of media. The international council brings together the chief executives of media companies with the goal of advancing the exchange of ideas among them through formal and informal discussions on a wide range of issues.
“Since I began covering the entertainment industry, I have been keenly aware of the important impact of The Paley Center for Media on many aspects of the media,” Robins said. “The landscape is changing dramatically at unimaginable rates. To join an organization that supports the leadership and the discourse of important changes on a global scale is a privilege.”
Penny Abernathy, the previous director of the council, is joining the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill as the Knight Chair of Digital Media Economics.

Congrats to Max, one of the best business journalists around. Hope to see him keep up his video commentary work while at Paley. BTW, next year marks the 75th anniversary of Phil T. Farnsworth's first-ever public demonstration of electronic TV (it happened in Phila. at the Franklin Institute, five years before RCA/Sarnoff's 1939 World's Fair unveiling). This is a heads up to Max; hope Paley Center commemorates the event! Best wishes.

Max is a regular on a late afternoon AM radio talk show that I faithfully listen to. I''ve dialed in to the Howie Carr Show on AM 680 in Boston and have spoken with Max. This is one of my favorite segments of Howie''s show and Max really knows his stuff. My best to him as he begins his tenure at the Paley Center.
Sincerely, Paul Murphy
