CBS’ Sarah Palin interview certainly won the Internet-buzz prize last week for network evening-news stories, but in the key 25-54 demo, ABC and NBC were tied atop the news ratings for the first week of the season (Sept. 22-26), with ABC edging out NBC in total households.

ABC's World News with Charles Gibson averaged a 2.1 rating/9 share, but so did NBC's Nightly News with Brian Williams, with each averaging the exact same 2.57 million viewers. ABC edged NBC in total viewers 8.07 million-7.98 million, according to Nielsen Media research numbers.
CBS was a distant third with a 1.5/6 rating in the 25-54 demo and 5.99 million viewers despite Katie Couric's high-profile interview with Republican vice-presidential candidate Palin, which certainly had the buzz factor.
ABC has won the 25-54 ratings race for two of the past three weeks, according to the network.

I am so tired of the "bull" that you think is news. I will refuse to watch anymore. You don't you give a fair account of what is actually going on with the world. If I worked for your network I wouldn't want anyone to know since you are so one sided. I've always been told that "what comes around...goes around".

Katie suddenly got better! Tuned in Tues., 9/30 to see part gazillion of Palin interview... and I was met by the perky Katie I remember from her NBC Today Show days. Faster delivery, even a hint of a smile. Maybe it was the Wash. Post rave by TV critic Howard Kutz, who complimented her on her enterprise and her interview skills. My wife insists it's some new makeup. But as someone who has been turned off by her droll, mock seriousness, this new Katie News jumped out and grabbed me by the throat to say, "Okay, I've dropped the facade and I'm going with the 'real me.'" Whatever you're doing, Katie, keepiing doing it. It wasn't the media doing you in... it was you not being you. But now you've fixed it, and it's all good. We'll be watching!
