CMA Awards Boost Network to Wednesday-Night Win

ABC won Wednesday night in the 18-49 demo, according to Nielsen Media Research overnight numbers, thanks to a strong showing from the country crooners on its CMA Awards broadcast, which averaged a 5.4/14 over its three-hour tour of the top country artists.

CBS was second with a 3.1/8 in the demo, led by Criminal Minds, which averaged a 4/10 from 9 p.m.-10 p.m. CSI: NY, usually CBS' top Wednesday show, averaged a 3.6/9 for second place from 10 p.m.-11 p.m. behind the awards show.
NBC edged out Fox with a 2.5/7. Its top show was Bionic Woman, but with only a 2.7/7, the highly touted drama continued its slide from its 5.5/14 debut and 3/8 rating two weeks ago (NBC gave it a rest on Halloween in favor of a second hour of Phenomenon).
Fox averaged a 2.4/6, led by Kitchen Nightmares at a 2.9/7.
The CW had a good night, averaging a 1.5/4 and coming in second in the 8 p.m.-9 p.m. time period with America's Next Top Model (2.5/7) -- ahead of Fox, NBC and CBS.
