CBS Taps Chip Reid For White House Beat

Jim Axelrod moves to national correspondent based in New York

Chip Reid has been named chief White House correspondent for CBS News, with Jim Axelrod moving from that beat to national correspondent based in New York. Reid has been Capitol Hill correspondent. CBS has not announced Reid's replacement.

Reid joined CBS News in 2007 from NBC News, where he had been Capitol Hill since 2004.

Reid's resume includes stints at WJLA-TV and WTTG, both in Washington. He was also counsel to the U.S. Judiciary Committee in the early 1980's.

  I was listening to the news tonight and heard your report from the White House regarding the press room visit Pres. Obama made.
  
  One comment he made caught my ear..."you need to get some better snacks in here guys".
  I was very honored to have been chosen as "the" Minnesota item place in the "50 States Baskets" assembled by the Democrats for Senators and Dignitaries attending the Inaugural Events.
  
  My snacks were chosen because they are a snack that the President is fond of...snack mixes. Ours are a fabulous blend of super fruits, heart healthy nuts, whole grains and more. They are then delicately glazed with a seasoned organic honey glaze. Just addictive!
  We even add ground flax seed and wheat germ for extra health benefits.
  
  We are a family owned and operated business in Minnesota and we would be honored to submit some of our snack mixes for consideration in the press room and even President Obama!
