Rep. Diane Watson (D-Calif.), a member of the Congressional Entertainment Industries Caucus, is holding a briefing for Hill staffers Thursday on Women in Cable Telecommunications' PAR (Pay, Advancement, Resources) Initiative.

Diane Watson

PAR rates cable companies on how well they pay and promote women and whether the work environment provides a balance between the priorities of business and family, as measured by factors including child care and telecommuting.

WICT said that after hearing about the PAR program, Watson invited WICT to make the presentation, which will include remarks by Watson, National Cable & Telecommunications Association president Kyle McSlarrow and WICT president Benita Fitzgerald Mosley.

There will also be a panel featuring executives from Cox Communications, which has topped PAR's list of women-friendly companies for the past five years, as well as Discovery Communications, Comcast, Turner Broadcasting System, Scripps Networks, Bright House Networks and Time Warner Cable.
