G4’s X-Play Goes Daily

Video-Game-Themed Cable Network to Add More Features to Show, Revamp Web Site

By Alex Weprin -- Broadcasting & Cable, 12/12/2007 11:58:00 AM

X-Play, cable network G4’s flagship video-game program, will move to a daily half-hour format beginning in January.

X-Play

Currently, the show is almost exclusively video-game reviews, with an occasional special featuring more in-depth interviews or video-game reporting. When the show changes to its new format Jan. 14, the network will bolster the program by having far more reporting and interviews, as well as tips and tricks, demos and contests.

Co-hosts Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb will continue as hosts. However Sessler will expand his role and become managing editor, games editorial for G4.

“I couldn’t be more excited about the direction X-Play is taking,” Sessler said in a statement. “Reviews will still be a big part of the show, but now we’re going to make sure that viewers are also updated regularly on everything else going on in the world of video games.”

G4 will also revamp X-Play’s Web site to coincide with the new show format. The network will expand its video-game-review database and launch a gaming blog to provide daily updates on the gaming world.

X-Play will launch its new format Monday, Jan. 14 at 8 p.m., and G4 will air a new episode of the show every weekday at 8 p.m.
