HIRE LARRY. He's gotten a bad rap. Word around Philly is that a third KYW-TV employee, later fired, installed keystroke capture software on a station computer and invited Larry to take a look at Alycia Lane's email. He did, and he has pleaded guilty. But did he really access her account 547 times, as alleged in the complaint? We may never know. And because he accepted a plea bargain that let him off with probation, he's bound to silence, unable to work to restore his reputation. Perhaps someone hijacked HIS email account, too, and make it look like he accessed Alycia's account more often than charged. There's a possible backstory here; due to sloth and envy, none of the Philly media outlets have efforted that story.

If you believe in salvation and in the possibility that even savvy journalists can be duped and lured into doing things they shouldn't -- like curiously snooping at a colleague's email -- you should hire Larry and give him a chance to redeem his reputation. At the same time, you'll get much media attention for your good deed. And no, I am not Larry's agent; I am, however, a fellow journalist who knows that in some quarters there's a war on the media that results in casualties.
