MSNBC's Shuster Suspended Over 'Pimped Out' Comment
Flap Over Comments Threatens Feb. 26 Clinton-Obama Debate on MSNBC

NBC News suspended MSNBC correspondent David Shuster over a remark he made likening Chelsea Clinton’s role in Sen. Hillary Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) presidential campaign to prostitution.

While filling in for Tucker Carlson on the Thursday edition of MSNBC’s Tucker, Shuster discussed Chelsea Clinton’s higher-profile involvement in her mother’s campaign with guest commentator Bill Press, asking, “Doesn’t it seem like Chelsea’s sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?”
After the Clinton campaign complained to Shuster and MSNBC, Shuster offered an apology Friday morning on Joe Scarborough’s radio show, Morning Joe, which is simulcast on MSNBC.
But in a statement posted on Mediabistro.com’s TV Newser, NBC News said that after he apologizes again on MSNBC Friday evening, Shuster is “suspended from appearing on all NBC News broadcasts.”
“He has also extended an apology to the Clinton family,” the statement continued. “NBC News takes these matters seriously and offers our sincere regrets to the Clintons for the remarks.”
The incident comes in the run-up to a Feb. 26 debate on MSNBC between Sen. Clinton and her Democratic rival, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.). “Our conversations with the Clinton campaign about their participation continue today,” NBC News added. “We are hopeful that the event will take place as planned.”
Previously a correspondent for Fox News Channel from 1996-2002, Shuster joined MSNBC in 2003, where he has covered the 2004 presidential campaign, Hurricane Katrina and other national stories. He was recognized by the Disabled American Veterans for his coverage of war veterans with disabilities.

While it seems that most of the people on this list are horrified by the lack of etiquette exhibited by Mr. David Shuster regarding his disturbing uncouth comments about Chelsea Clinton, however, one can hardly call it surprising given the viciousness our political electoral system''s history has taken on. Remarkably, there are still a few here on the list that appear to be excusing Mr. Shuster''s behavior by claiming perhaps anyone of us could be "next" & will be taken to task by the PC police. Give me a break! If someone made these same rude indecent comments about your child, you would be incensed enough to demand an apology and in addition, want to have this ignorant person terminated by his employer. Thankfully, NBC did the right thing in terminating him

The word "PIMP" is now so widely used and accepted in our language today so more and more we incorporate it in our vocabulary. "Pimp my ride". I can tell you the dictionary has added many words that would make my grade school teacher roll over and die again in her grave, eg: jig·gy Pronunciation [jig-ee]
–adjective, ‑gi·er, ‑gi·est. Slang. 1. nervous; active; excitedly energetic. 2. wonderful and exciting, esp. because stylish.
[Origin: get "jiggy" wit it, Will Smith
I say this to say David Shuster is only using the language of our day, he is the new generation of reporters and I don't believe he should have to be fired for using these words. People who find this offensive need to really check themselves because the problem lies within there thinking. You can call someone by any name but it's up to he or she to answer to it!

Shuster should be terminated. One expects reporters - certainly on the national level - to show some discernment and maturity. Shuster cleraly is capable of neither. Send him back to the trashy backgroud he obviously comes from.

If David Shuster had used disparaging language (pimping) about Michele Obama instead of Chelsea Clinton, he would have been banished not only from NBC News but also from the planet. We do have two different standards in this country, although most of the news media don't broadcast the fact.
