A highly-publicized episode of CBS’ The Oprah Winfrey Show that featured Thomas Beattie, a transgendered man who is six months’ pregnant, and his wife, Nancy, was the show’s eighth-highest-rated of the season, according to CBS Television Distribution.

The show, which aired Thursday, April 3, scored a 6.5 rating/17 share primary weighted household average, doubling its lead-in average of 3.2/9. The show did best in St. Louis, where it hit a 15.9/30, and Minneapolis, where it averaged a 10.2/28.
Oprah collaborated with People magazine on the controversial episode. Beattie, 34, grew up female but transitioned to life as a man 10 years ago. While Beattie did have testosterone treatments and breast-removal surgery, he kept his reproductive organs intact because, he told Winfrey, he “always wanted a child.”

To bear a child is a presious gift. It is in the chemestry of the woman and her desires to be a mother. Men may also want to be parents as well . This role is that of a Father. Which factual information was eluded here. Truly the diagnosis was incorrect for a change of gender from the first place. You will never be able to hide this from your child. The illusion of tranquility will haunt you and your child forever. Why you say ! You went public !! You will live in fear for that child all of your life.

Isn't it that this couple went through some psychological evaluation to determine whether they'll be good parents or not. The mere fact that this pregnancy was greenlighted must've meant that they indeed were found out to be fit parents. I think that America should start looking into this with open minds.

They look like a happy couple who deserved to have their own child to complete their family. Let's just wish them the best of luck and for Thomas and his little baby to remain healthy all throughout and after this miracle. They are brave for coming forward about this.

I can't believe the kind of people who go out of the ways to give out nasty comments about this couple. I think this is different but I am okay about this. They just wanted a child, for cryin' out loud! He's legally a man now but he chose to retain his reproductive rights as a woman. I think Oprah only wanted to shed some light about this incident to the public. Please stop using the name of the Lord to condemn this couple. If you can't take what you saw on Oprah about the Beatties out of your silly stuck-up minds, go back and watch your Springer reruns.
