NBC News cut the ribbon on its new high-tech headquarters Thursday. The news division will move into its new digs Oct. 22. The six-month construction project will unite the NBC News and MSNBC staffs under one roof at 30 Rockefeller Center.

The 8,500-square-foot studio space includes 280 high-definition monitors, six HD projectors, a motorized anchor platform for MSNBC, a wall of 36 monitors and a 31-foot catwalk above the main anchor platform in Studio 3A for additional stand-up options.
"Today, all of NBC News' home base of operations is finally where it should be -- under one roof," NBC News president Steve Capus said in a statement. "Not only do we have the most advanced technology, the finest achievements in design and a dizzying array of visual enhancements, but most important, our greatest asset, the men and women of NBC News, are all in one place."
The renovation project began in February 2007 and will be fully completed by 2008, at which point it will also be home to Dateline NBC, Peacock Productions, NBC News educational initiatives iCue and Channel One, NBC News Radio and NBC News2Go.
