Nickelodeon ordered a new computer-graphics animated series, Fanboy and Chum Chum.

The series is actually a spinoff of upcoming Nicktoons anthology Random! Cartoons.
Fanboy and Chum Chum follows the title character, comic-book-loving 10-year-old Fanboy, and his trusty sidekick, Chum Chum. Nickelodeon ordered 26 episodes of the animated series, although a premiere date has not yet been set.
Fanboy and Chum Chum will join fellow animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, The Fairly Oddparents, Amy Poehler’s The Mighty B! and Back at the Barnyard.
Nick Jr. also picked up a new interactive television series, Team Umizoomi. The series will blend 2-D and 3-D animation with live actors to create an environment where miniature superheroes will help preschoolers to solve everyday problems using mathematics. By showing math in practical, real-world settings and combining it with preschool-appropriate pop-rock, the network hopes to do for math what Dora the Explorer does for Spanish.
Team Umizoomi will debut on Nick Jr. in 2009.
