Debate to air on CNN in English, Univision in Spanish, will be available online.

Univision and CNN are hosting a Democratic presidential candidate’s debate sponsored by the Texas Democratic Party February 21.
The debate will be moderated by a CNN anchor, and will feature questions from Univision and CNN reporters. Both Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and Senator Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) have agreed to participate.
Texas is the country’s second most populous state, and 25% of eligible voters are Hispanic, making it a natural fit for the Univision/CNN format.
The Univision/CNN debate will be held at the Lyndon B. Johnson Auditorium at the University of Texas Austin at 8 p.m., with live coverage on CNN and a Spanish language simulcast airing on Univision at 11:30 p.m. The debate will be available in full on CNN.com and Univision.com after broadcast.

It is unfortunate that political campaigns do not provide an opportunity for candidates to speak honestly and openly. I would have liked for one of them to seriously address the issue that 10 - 20 years from now only immigrants will be bi-lingual while the rest of us will slowly become unemployed in the global economy that will require employees to be multi-lingual.

It amazes the open mind that one would think billary won. The clintons have proven to lie and distort for the good of clintons, whereas obama is new and doesn't have the dirt as the other two do. Why would any democrat want to continue the ego disease of the clintons?

The United States of America should require knowledge of English, speaking and writing, to be a requirement of citizenship. Language is a binding force. It is also good that immigrants from non-English speaking countries teach their children their native tounge.
It has been my experience to have the good fortune to travel and live in a number of forgien lands. And in all of my travels have never found individuals who have not wanted to practice their English speaking skills with me. English is the language of technology and science and frankly is spoken universally.

It is clear that Hillary Clinton will make a wonderful, respected and intelligent President.

What a shame that Univision prefers to air a meaningless awards show "Premio Lo Nuestro" while the debate is on live and does a delay to air at 11:30p when most Hispanics are going to sleep. Why not block out the Texas region and give us the live feed and rebroadcast the awards show later. If Univisioj says they really care about the hispanic audience they serve, they surely are not showing it here. It is a classic example of Univision's abuse to their viewers. A couple of years ago the same thing happened during the evacuation for hurricane Rita. While all Houston local english broadcasters went to 24 hour coverage, the night before the storm was to hit, KXLN, Univision's local O&O was broadcasting another awards show, "Premios Juventud" (I think).
What a shame. If they were an englsih network, they would be critized tremendously, but there is nobody paying attention to what they do in Spanish, and nobody big enough to take them on.
