Debmar-Mercury’s new first-run syndicated sitcom, Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, debuted in national syndication Monday with a 1.2 rating/2 share weighted-metered-market average, according to Nielsen Media Research.

House of Payne, which has been airing to strong ratings on TBS for more than one year, was even with its average lead-in and up 9% from its year-ago time-period average. The show is cleared mainly in access and primetime slots on nontraditional affiliates.
The company’s other offering this season, new game show Trivial Pursuit: America Plays, opened at a 0.7/2. That’s on par with its lead-in but down 13% from the show’s year-ago time-period average.
Warner Bros.’ Judge Jeanine Pirro, which is produced by a syndicator but runs in the afternoon on The CW, debuted at a 0.8/2, down 33% from its lead-in and even with its year-ago time-period rating.
Among the new shows that premiered Sept. 8, CBS’ The Doctors remains syndication’s top-rated rookie in the metered-market averages, with a two-week average of 1.4/4. The Doctors consistently has been first or second in its time periods in six of the top 19 markets.
NBC Universal’s new game show, Deal or No Deal, is averaging a 1.1/3 in its first two weeks, followed by Warner Bros.’ Bonnie Hunt at a 1.0/3. The two new court shows bring up the rear, with Sony’s Judge Karen averaging a 0.9/3 in its first two weeks and Program Partners’ Family Court with Judge Penny averaging a 0.8/3.
Nielsen will release the rookies’ first set of national ratings tomorrow.
