Gannett and Tribune Interactive are joining forces to expand the Metromix stable of regional entertainment Web sites.
The new venture, called Metromix LLC, will launch Metromix.com in the nation’s top 30 markets and other “key metro areas in the coming months.” It will be owned equally by the two media companies.
The new company will be housed in Chicago. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Metromix offers online restaurant and nightlife information in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and a few other markets. It was launched by the Chicago Tribune a decade ago.
“Gannett and Tribune are a powerful combination of deep local market experience, superior content and national scale,” Tribune Interactive president Tim Landon said in a statement. “With this partnership, we can grow Metromix into a true national brand, adding value for advertisers who want to reach a highly desirable demographic.”
