WJLA Washington is partnering with Weigel Broadcasting's Me-TV to air the multicast net on its channel 7.2. The vintage programs channel debuts March 1 in DMA No. 8.Allbritton owns WJLA, an ABC affiliate.
"We are thrilled to be joining the Me-TV team," said Bill Lord, general manager of WJLA. "Me-TV has a great library of all time television hit shows and we are very excited to offer these legendary programs to our audience."
Me-TV, offering the likes of M*A*S*H, The Brady Bunch and Gunsmoke, clears 87% of the country. It launched in 2010.
"Adding Allbritton's flagship Washington D.C. station to our line-up completes Me-TV's top ten market clearances in a most prestigious manner," said Neal Sabin, president of content and Networks, Weigel Broadcasting Co.

I'm guessing that Accu-Weather Channel could be moving to one of the other DC stations.
I could picture WJLA becoming an ABC O&O... but we're not sure that Allbritton would even want to sell ownership of its flagship ABC affiliate to the ABC network.
Speaking of KRON... NBC had wanted ownership of its former longtime San Francisco affiliate for years, but were unsuccessful in getting their hands on it. I could still picture NBC possibly acquiring ownership of KRON someday, and maybe keeping KNTV as a Telemundo station, and selling KSTS.
Don't know how long WJLA plans on keeping Gordon Peterson, Maureen Bunyan, Doug Hill, and Bob Ryan. WJLA newscasts, in my opinion, need a makeover... the set is very dated... and could picture the station getting new set, new graphics, and new music. Just a thought.

I believe a TV station (like WJLA) can have up to three digital sub-channels besides it's "main" service, so Live Well may well end up as a "7.3" or even "7.4" (given WJLA is on "7.1" and Me TV will be on "7.2".

Whoops they already have LiveWell (but only at 480i)? Who knew? Well, besides wikipedia.

So they went with MeTV over the LiveWell Network (owned by Disney-ABC).
Once again, WJLA proves to be a crappy ABC affiliate that is all about maximizing profit while flipping off their corporate partner and their viewers.
Their history of pre-empting ABC shows so they can show decades-old movies where they sell 100% of the commercial time is downright disgusting.
I really wish that ABC would pull their affiliation from WJLA and they can go on to be another KRON.
