Tribune Broadcasting will launch Antenna TV, a classic TV network, to run on digital multicast channels starting this January.
"Tribune is committed to making full use of our bandwidth to offer viewers a broad spectrum of programming," said Sean Compton, Tribune's president of programming, in a statement.
Tribune acquired most of the new network's programming from Sony Pictures Television and D.L Taffner, paying cash for each program. Antenna TV is available to stations and station groups on an all-barter basis.
Included in the network's initial offerings will be such classic sitcoms as Three's Company, All in the Family, Sanford and Son, Benny Hill, Maude, The Nanny, Married with Children, Too Close for Comfort, The Partridge Family, Dennis the Menace, The Donna Reed Show and The Three Stooges. Antenna TV also will show movies in daytime.
Tribune also airs MGM and Weigel's digital classic movie network, THIS TV, on digital channels in most of its markets.
"The addition of Antenna TV offers a strong compliment to THIS TV and to our station's existing programming," said Compton.

been watching the ropers on antenna tv ,it would have been a bigger hit if jack and the girls would show up in a few shows ,like around the holidays ,seemed like when it was threes company they were like family ,so to do a spin off ,include jack and the rest to make it seem that there was a closeness between them ,the writers could have made this show a hit ,its like going to see your grandparents for the holidays ,to bad it did not last to long ,the idea was there ,like if helen got a phone call and she told stanly jack is on the phone ,and they want to come over to visit ,there was so much to work with

WHAT THEY NEED TO DO WITH THE MOVIES IS TO HAVE A STREAMING CAPTION WITH WHAT THE NAME OF THE MOVIE, FOR EX. EVERY 15 MINUTES. THE WAY IT IS NOW THE TITLE COMES ON AT THE BEGINNING AND THEN NO MORE SO IF YOU LOOK AT IT A QUARTER WAY THRU YOU WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT THE MOVIE IS. ALSO WHERE IS THE SHEDULE FOR THE NETWORK

If they could obtain the rights to the Lawrence Welk Show that would be great. The Welk Group has had it on PBS for many years and PBS is killing off the show by continually preempting it for pledge programs.
