PTC Upset Over Adam Lambert AMA Performance
Group urges members to issue FCC complaints over explicit simulation
By John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 11/23/2009 5:06:09 PM
The Parents Television Council has asked its members to complain to the FCC where they can, and ABC, Dick Clark Productions, and advertisers generally, about the American Music Awards broadcast on ABC Sunday night.
The group was not happy with the final performance of last year's American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert, which they complain included an oral sex simulation that was edited out of the West Coast version.
Lambert performed after 10 p.m. East Coast time, so there are no implications for the FCC on that coast. But PTC is encouraging those where the last hour aired at 9-10 p.m. to contact the commission.
It was PTC's complaints about Janet Jackson's Super Bowl reveal that helped spur an FCC crackdown on broadcast content.
An ABC spokesperson was not available for comment at press time.

All right all you "normal" people... STOP SPEAKING FOR THE REST OF US. Did you ASK us what we thought of this performance? Did you take a poll? No. You just got your panties in a bunch and then decided that your small-minded, pathetic little selves are somehow representative of the rest of us. Well guess what? YOU'RE NOT. You pansies can be offended all you want, but us REAL AMERICANS don't give a flip what some guy does on TV. I didn't like the performance, but guess what? I CHANGED THE CHANNEL AND MOVED ON WITH MY LIFE. I didn't try to get the guy banned from TV or throw a temper tantrum just because it wasn't what I wanted to see. GROW UP OR SHUT UP, because YOU PEOPLE ARE RUINING THIS GREAT COUNTRY WITH YOUR ENDLESS WHINING.

My god, why are people so butthurt and overreact over some performance? IT'S JUST SOME GUY TRYING TO PLEASE HIS FANS!!! The government is the reason why America has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Why is Adam's performance being singled out? And why are parents so upset about a performance at 11PM on a school night about which they had ample forewarning. Who is minding the children? Editorialist Xena offers a perceptive (and hilarious) analysis. Here's a sampling:
"Just how are M&M* and his ilk supposed to maintain their lucrative position atop the “Dangerous Angry Young Man” (DAYM) hierarchy, when this poseur comes along, subversively groomed, suited, booted and accessorized. “You’ve got to be f***in’ me – he’s gay! He wears eyeliner – like a h**! You can hear each word, his diction is so perfect and he only grabs his crotch once in a while, not for the entire performance and not a single bleep-worthy lyric! The old DAYMs are at a total loss for words. His pretty face is on the WANTED poster at the f***in’ post office!!"

Adam Lambert's performance on the AMA's was disgusting. He make's me sick! I am also tired of gays "forcing" their perverted lifestyle on everyone else. I don't care and I don't want to see it.

We are sick of this from both men and women!! I am so sick of hearing about diversity and open mindedness while these sick people continue to erode the values that made this country great, and which the majority of Americans still hold on to. That was the most disgusting performance, and to think ABC allowed this to be aired to a family audience in prime time. I will not watch ABC at all anymore. We are in trouble now...
