'My Name Is Earl' Officially Dead
Had been in talks with TBS about reviving series, but negotiations fell through

My Name Is Earl, the canceled NBC comedy, produced by 20th Century Fox Television, will not be coming back to TV.
The studio had been talking to cable network TBS about reviving the series, but 20th Century Fox now says negotiations have fallen through. TBS holds the cable syndication rights to reruns of My Name Is Earl.
“While we had hoped to find a way to produce additional episodes for TBS, in the final analysis we simply could not make the economics work without seriously undermining the artistic integrity of the series,” said a studio statement. “As none of us, Greg included, want the show to go out on anything but a high note, we regret that we must put to rest any speculation that Earl will continue. We are grateful to everyone at TBS for their enthusiasm for the series and wish to offer our heartfelt thanks to the cast and crew of My Name is Earl for their incredible work."

I agree with the last post... Economics!!!! I too would rather watch the show with a low budget show than to not have it at all!
This is coming from a person who has not watched live T.V. by choice since 1993 but stumbled across 'my name is Earl' from a theater movie trailer.. When Circut City was going out of business I saw the series and though it was 3 Years later I remembered the trailer I viewed it online. I liked so much that I bought the dvd collection for the 3 seasons and watched the available episodes for the 4th season on the NBC rewind on the internet.
The cast was fantastic. The characters had the same feeling like you knew them much like the series 'Cheers' A quality show... I have never watched a reality show, or 'friends' or the other stuff people talk about to me. It did not grab my interest enough. ......

This is what greed gets you. A good show gone to the waste pile because of economics. Would you rather have a show on the air at a lower price per episode or have no show at all? Producers need to think long term and this is a classic example of why reality TV will rule the airwaves in the near future rather than smart, progressive shows such as Earl.
Sad to see it go away.
