'Jon And Kate Plus 8' Premiere Draws Nearly 10 Million Viewers
Best ratings ever for TLC in key demos, beats broadcasters

The season five premiere of Jon and Kate Plus 8 delivered the best ratings in the series' history Monday, drawing 9.8 million total viewers, including 4.3 million in TLC’s target W18-49 demo.
The premiere also delivered the highest ratings in TLC history among W18-34 (9.1), M18-34 (3.6), and P18-34 (6.3).
The previous record holder was the season four finale, which aired March 23 and drew just over 4.6 million viewers, including 2.07 million W18-49. The premiere ratings were higher than anything on television Monday night, beating all of the broadcast networks.
The show's return had been much hyped in the media due to rumors of infidelity and possibly divorce between the show’s stars Jon and Kate Gosselin.

I HAVE WACHTED JON AND KATE PLUS 8 FROM THE VERY BEGINNING AND I KNOW THEY HAVE IT HARD RAISING 8 KIDS I'M JUST TIRED OFF ALL THE STUFF ABOUT HOW THEY GET FREE TRIPS AND THIS AND THAT WHO CARES THE WAY I FEEL ABOUT IT IS IT NOBODYS BUNINESS LEAVE THEM ALONE AND THAT THEM LIVE THERE LIVES AND TRY AND GET THROUGH THIS TIME TOGETHER I MEAN YOU CAN'T EVEN WALK IN A STORE WOTHOUT SEEING THERE NAMES ALL OVER EVERY TABOID OUT THERE IT'S NO WONDER THERE HAVING A HARD TIME I KNOW PEOPLE THINK THEY BROUGTH THIS ON THENSELVES BUY DOING THE SHOW. BUT THEY DESERVE PRIVACY THEY HAVE 8 KIDS TO WORRY ABOUT I WOULD NOT WANT MY KIDS TO SEE ME IN THE PAPER ABOUT GETTING DIVORCED OR BEING WITH ANOTHER MALE OR FEMALE BESIDES MY SPOUSE THIS IS GETTING OUT OF CONTROL AND THE TRUTH NEEDS TO COME OUT FOR THE KIDS SAKE

Merisol, most moms do not want to raise multiples and only have the amount of children they can afford to have. Besides, she doesn't do it by herself despite all of her claims and exhaustion. She has tons of help and always has. She has nannies, friends, and she honestly gets more time off to herself than most mothers who have just one child. Then again, most moms know better than to have a crap load of kids, have their lives filmed for reality TV, and get paid thousands of dollars for being an ass. She just needs to count her lucky stars (literally) and parent instead of pawning off her job as a mom on others. I have four sons and with all of the fighting, sports, and school, I still manage to maintain my home and go to school full-time for my bachelor degree. This is all possible because my husband is an active father who at times does more than his fair share. However, I would never on top of all this say, you know what let's try for another, especially if I had to go through fertility treatment (increases odds of having twins/multiples). I hate to say it, but I know when Kate says things like, "we're a fertility nightmare," because she doesn't want people to say, you asked for it and now you got it. Seriously, unless Kate truly is the idiot we think she is, she had to have known that since she already had twins (likely because of the fertility treatment), and had to go it again that she would have more than one baby. Her luck or unluck is she had six. I believe by how she is now that she's making the big bucks is telling me she was the original Octomom.

i would like to see you raise eight children, six is a lot different than Eight and I'm pretty sure all six of your kids are'nt the same age!! Kate has to deal with the stresses of all her children plus having her whole life filmed!! She has to be tough and strict and hard on everyone in order to keep everything straight. She is nurturing to her children and its not like we see everything in their lives,we only see what makes tv and what kind of tv show would it be if everything was perfect all the timee?? i applaud Kate for all her hard work in raising her children.

Delinah, you hit it spot on. Kate is sadly self-absorbed for a mother of such a large family -- not nearly nurturing enough, and she henpecks Jon to death. Not that I approve of him straying, but I can understand it. What's her excuse for boffing her bodyguard?
Kate has to lighten up with the regimentation and the neatness. I know of what I speak -- I'm one of six children. Yes, you need some order. But she akes it to the extreme. Kate makes neuroticism take the place of neatness.
The sad part is that the children will bear the brunt of this marital train wreck. Hopefully these adorable kids will support each other in later years and maybe even be able to laugh about their parents' foibles. We can only hope that their parents' commercialism will ensure college educations for their children.
