NBC Picks Up 'Last Call With Carson Daly'
Late night show to return for ninth season

NBC has given a pick-up to Last Call with Carson Daly for the 2009-10 season. The 24-week exercising of an option on his current deal solidifies NBC’s late night lineup out of Conan O’Brien (who takes over The Tonight Show June 1) and Jimmy Fallon.Like several shows returning next season on every network, the 1:35 a.m. show will be produced at a significantly lower cost basis than in previous years.
The show recently introduced a new format that takes it largely out of the studio and to locations mostly around Los Angeles, where it is shot. Daly does, however, conduct some interviews on a studio set.
The show, from Universal Media Studios, is currently in its eighth season. David Friedman is the showrunner.

Carson is not funny and his show is uninteresting. Sounds terrible to say but I am glad Fallon got Conan's spot cause he is actually funny.

This show has been on for 8yrs? Really? Goodness then I guess he must be doing s/t right. What are the ratings?
I dont like the onlocation format bc the damn cameraman keeps shaking ...it gives me a headache!
& PICK A COLOUR! Do u want black /white or colour. Switching is annoying.

I like the old in studio format better than the current format. One reason and not the only one is that it is so distracting to watch swithing back and forth to a B&W pic.

Seriously NBC, why? This show, despite a new format, is rarely viewed and this show is just plain boring to watch. This guy had his 15 minutes of fame with MTV so can't he just simply go away and use this timeslot for something better? What else can NBC screw up now?

I think the new format is AMAZING!! I couldn't stand the old format. I thought it was boring and a low grade of "the tonight show". But, this format is so creative, innovative, educational, with a cool edge. I used to think that Carson Daly wasn’t very interesting and could never understand why he had his own show. Now, I see why. He is engaging, kind and asks the right questions. He's finally come into his own style and now his personality finally shines through. He introduces a side of So Cal that would be hard to find on your own. I LOVE the show!
