Nielsen: 3.4% of Households Still Unready For DTV
African Americans and those under 35 are still the groups most affected by the transition

3.8 million, or 3.4% of households are still unprepared for the DTV transition, which will happen June 12, 2009 (some stations have already flipped the switch to digital, and others will likely do so before the June 12 date).
March saw a sharp increase in DTV preparedness, with 610 thousand homes getting DTV ready.
The 3.4% number is also down a full percentage point from Feb. 15, two days before the original transition date, which was delayed by Congress.
African Americans and those under 35 are still the groups most affected by the transition, with 6.2% and 6.3% unprepared, respectively. Hispanics are at 5.6% unprepared, down nearly a full percentage point in March alone.
Across the U.S., Albuquerque New Mexico is the leas prepared, with 9.4% unready, followed by Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston, each with 6.3%. New England markets New Haven-Hartford and Providence-New Bedford are the most prepared, each with less than one percent unprepared.

Also, Neilson is putting many people in other states at risk It is tornado season. lives could be lost. when additional band width is not available. Because Neilson rather have these broadcasters continue to broadcast full power. I talk to my full power station KGET 17, who stated. I think every viewer is not watching our UHF station in Techachippi. Will find out when we switch to low power next week. If nobody is watching, were asking them to call us. It's cost us $around $50 thousand after two month, so far.. Wait and see next week.

I wish the Neilson people think this all over. There wanting those broadcasters to keep anolog on. I thaught this over and I believe broadcasters, should go ahead and switch to low power uhf, make sense. I hope Senator Boxer, Senator Feinstein and House Rep. Kevin McCarthy think things over. A two year low power license bit for UHF, will give our government more time and those struggling folks more time. You pull the plug on full power uhf and switch to low power June 12th, 2009 to June 12th 2011. People will have to buy tv amplifier's anyway. I just believe Neilson just is plain stupid and being concern. There wasn't any arguement, when my local broadcaster said. Good idea, low power uhf. Might work. I hope congress can adopt this. Broadcaster wish to halt broadcast. If one full power uhf get struck by lightening in Kern County, they won't bother putting it back on the air. We got nasty weather right now in Bakersfield on a Tuesday night, April 7th, 2009.
