D.L. Hughley's late night CNN program will finish its short run next month.
D.L. Hughley Breaks the News debuted last fall to less than stellar reviews. The show averaged 751,000 viewers (284,000 in the 25-54 demo) for its 18 episode run. It peaked in its second week with 1.5 million viewers.
According to a CNN statement, Hughley, who lives in Los Angeles, wanted to move the show there so that he could be closer to his family. But budgetary constraints precluded a move. Hughley will continue at CNN as "contributor" based in Los Angeles.
"We are eager to continue our relationship with D.L., who is a tremendous talent and a valued colleague," said the network in a statement.

I'm surprised and disappointed by this as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the little bit I did see of his show. I was a fan of his on Studio 60 and even though I'm a "WASP" I really appreciated his thoughts on topics.

I just found out you canceled his show. I loved watching him and found his humour most entertaining. Dry and to the point. I will miss him and I'm sure that I will not be alone.

I believe Mr. Hughley's show was cancelled because of the Michael Steele incident. It seems very convenient that as soon as there is all this hoopla about Michael Steele telling the truth about this Rush Limbaugh (who is nothing but an entertainer as Mr. Steele put it), then all of a sudden Mr. Hughley's decides to end his show which was going very well; plus I'm sure a binding contract, just to be closer to his family?
Come on! You are only deceiving yourself, not the American people and especially not the Black Community.
