Roland Martin will soon get a lot more airtime on CNN. Martin will take over for Campbell Brown during Brown's maternity leave. He's expected to be filling in for about 8 weeks, beginning in early April.
Martin has been a regular contributor on Brown's show, No Bias, No Bull and has also been a familiar face on CNN's political panel. But while Brown goes to some lengths to frame her program as politically neutral, Martin, was outspoken in his support of Barack Obama in the run-up to the election.
A CNN statement stated, Martin has "been transparent about whom he has supported for president, whether it was George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush or Barack Obama. We look forward to Roland's smart, energetic and spirited reporting."
CNN is also developing a weekend program around Martin that is expected to debut sometime after the conclusion of his duties on No Bias, No Bull.

Roland, I disagree with the lady that you had on the show tonight (Janell, I think) She basically said that Miss USA should not tell the truth on gay marriages. She wanted her to LIE!!!!!!! This tells me alot about Janell (I wonder how many times she lies) Is everyone scared of the truth? Even though, she did not agree with Miss USA she should at least respect her opinion.
Miss USA is a beautiful person inside and out unlike Janell!!!!!!!

Your whole-hearted support of the sin tax on cigarettes and your passionate comments about the evils and offensiveness of smoking are interesting to hear. Are you aware that obesity and the associated health risks it poses also strain our health care system and causes millions of deaths? Several articles have stated that the dangers of obesity equal those from smoking. Should we be taxing high fat/calories foods too? What about alcohol? Rather than constantly ostracize and condemn people who don't conform to your likes, why don't we all work on our own flaws? Apparently feeling superior to someone else because you don't smoke is alot easier than going on a diet.

First African American prime time host on CNN since Bernard Shaw? Way, way overdue. And hello out there at MSNBC, love Chris, Keith and Rachel, but add in Joe and Mika and Andrea and Contessa and David and can we get any diversity in the lineup [yes, Tamryn Hall counts but the deck is so stacked]? Fox News - forget diversity. Bill O, Hannity, Greta, Beck, Cavuto. On and on. Historic absence of diverse voices in mainstream media continues, and the absence is only exacerbated in light of the historic election of our first African American president.
