ATAS Gives COO Alan Perris A Multiyear Contract Renewal
Has headed the Academy staff since joining in April 2006

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has given a multiyear contract renewal to chief operating officer Alan Perris. Perris has headed the staff of the Academy since joining in April 2006 as COO, which replaced the former position of president. Perris oversees the day-to-day activities of the Hollywood-based Academy, reporting to chairman John Shaffner. The Academy administrates the primetime Emmy awards, while the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (based in New York) oversees the daytime, sports and news Emmys. It also conducts seminars and special events. In addition the Academy's foundation supports a number of charitable causes, including sponsoring the Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship, college TV awards and an intern program.
