The word “workflow” has made the transition from cliché to mantra. During the past five years, stations and facilities have focused on improving workflow so that they can better respond to staffing cuts, and vendors have built products that meet those new demands.

This requires more automated processes and shortcuts that don’t compromise the quality of a production. The focus on workflow, as stories on these pages show, has spawned technologies that are transforming TV, allowing personnel to work together faster and more easily. Read on.
