The mouse roars back

By BroadCasting & Cable Staff -- Broadcasting & Cable, 10/22/2000 8:00:00 PM

Preston Padden, Disney's executive vice president of government relations, last week demanded an apology from Paul Taylor of the Alliance for Better Campaigns. Padden took issue with an ad Taylor's organization ran in the Philadelphia Inquirer criticizing ABC's WPVI-TV for not yet committing to air five minutes of political airtime each night. Padden called the ad "false and libelous" and argued that the station is chock full of local debates and political coverage.

Taylor wasn't swayed by Padden's complaint: "This is an effort to marginalize and ignore a very worthwhile proposal."
