The Style Network’s newest original program, Ruby, raked in 545,000 viewers and a .66 household rating during its premiere Nov. 9, making it the most watched and highest rated original series premiere in the network’s history.
Style is hoping that the series’ success will continue to build ratings and recognition for the network as a whole within the key female demos it targets: W18-49 and W25-54.
Following the life of 500 lbs. Savannah resident Ruby Gettinger, the show documents Gettinger’s journey to lose weight, get healthy and battle discrimination.
“Ruby is truly an inspiration and we are delighted that Style viewers have embraced the series,” said Salaam Coleman Smith, Executive Vice President, The Style Network, in a statement. “The response at mystyle.com has also been fantastic and many women are coming together to share their own stories as they follow Ruby’s journey.”
Ruby airs Sunday nights at 8pm ET/PT on The Style Network.

Honestly I dont see this as a real life situation for anyone trying to lose weight~ how many of us can not have a job and responsibilities?? She gets to spend her entire day eating prepared food (that is paid for) exercising (paid trainer) several doctors(all paid ) come on, welcome to the real world ..I have a serious weight issue as well, and I would love to have the same "problems" she has ~ its sad that people are actually being given false hope ,,knowing that the benifits she is receiving is THE ONLY WAY .she was able to achieve her weight loss~ congrats on her ability to make money by being fat~ like I said if every obese person had this kind of help there wouldnt be many of them

HI RUBY, I UNDERSTAND WHY YOU ARE HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME WITH THE WEIGHT LOSS PLAN THEY HAVE FOR YOU RIGHT NOW. YOU PROBABLY JUST WANT TO HAVE A REAL PIECE OF MEAT OR A REAL VEG OR FRUIT AT THIS POINT. THOSE BOXED MEALS ARE GREAT TO GET YOU STARTED BUT YOU JUST CANNOT KEEP THAT UP FOR THE LONG HAUL. I ALSO UNDERSTAND YOUR NOT REMEMBERING YOUR CHILD HOOD. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I CAN REMEMBER SOME THINGS BUT I CANNOT REMEMBER ALOT OF THINGS. I AM NOW 53 YRS OLD AND I GREW UP IN A CHILDRENS HOME IN ALABAMA. IT WAS A VERY GOOD PLACE BUT I CANNOT REMEMBER EVERYTHING. I DID NOT HAVE ISSUES WITH MY WEIGHT UNTIL AFTER I MARRIED AT 18 AND HAD A CHILD. HOWEVER I CAN RE MEMBER ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT WEIGHT AND WEIGHT PROBLEMS WITH OTHER GIRLS IN THE HOME. I AM NOW 150LBS OVER WEIGHT AT THIS POINT. I DO BELIEVE OUR PAST HAS ALOT TO DO WITH OUR WEIGHT ISSUES NOW AND I THINK IF WE WERE TO TALK WE MAY BE ABLE TO HELP EACH OTHER.. AT ANY RATE I WISH YOU ALL THE LUCK IN THE WORLD. EVEN THOUGH I KNOW THIS IS NOT ABOUT LUCK. ITS ABOUT WHETHER WE HAVE THE COURAGE TO GO ON. AND I DO BELIEVE THAT YOU WOULD HAVE NOT STARTED ON THIS VERY HIGH PROFILE JOURNEY IF YOU DID NOT HAVE THE COURAGE. I ONLY WISH I COULD DO IT WITH YOU. I TRULY PRAY FOR YOUR SAKE THAT THIS IS IT FOR YOUR. BECAUSE I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL,. YOU THINK THAT YOU ARE GONNA DIE IF YOU DONT DO IT THIS TIME, AND I UNDERSTAND, I FEEL THE SAME SAY TOO. I WISH THAT EVERYBODY THAT LOVES ME AND THINKS THAT I CAN JUST DO THIS, I WISH THAT THEY COULD WALK ONE DAY IN MY SHOES, AND UNDERSTAND THAT TODAY I DONT OVEREAT, I DID IN THE PAST AND I CANNOT FIX IN IN ONE DAY. ITS A CUMMALATIVE EFFORT OF 1 TO 5 LBS A YEAR FOR HOWEVER MANY YEARS THEY HAVE KNOWN ME SO THATS WHERE I AM RIGHT NOW. IF I COULD FIX MY WEIGHT AND MY LIFE I WOULD, BUT IT CANNOT BE FIXED OVER NIGHT. GOOOD LUCK TO RUBY AND I H OPE THAT THIS TIME YOU WILL SUCCEED, I KNOW THAT YOU WILL BECAUSE YOU HAVE SOOOO MUCH SUPOORT AND THATS WHAT WE ALL NEED I THINK YOU ARE SOO BRAVE RUBY, AND I LOVE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE AND I REALLY HOPE THAT YOU MAKE IT THIS TIME. YOU TALK AND ACT JUST LIKE ME, AND I THINK YOU DESERVE TO BE HAPPY AND YOU DESERVE TO HAVE A GOOD LIFE. I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN BY NOT BEING ABLE TO SIT ON SOMEONES LAP OR BY NOT BEING ABLE TO RIDE A BICYCLE OR NOT BEING ABLE TO TIE YOUR SHOE OR BY NOT BEING ABLE TO WALK FOR MORE THAT A BLOCK OR NUMEROUS OTHER THINGS. RUBY I KNOW!!!!! AND I UNDERSTAND AND I AM CHEERING FOR YOU AND I AM SO PROUD OF YOU TRYING TO DO THIS WITHOUT SURGERY!!! I JUST PRAY TO GOD THAT EVERYTHING WORKS OUT FOR YOU RUBY!!! I LOVE YOU AND SUPPORT YOU FOREVER, LOVE YA FRANCES

Thank you for being brave enough to take your battle with "the beast" public. I am so proud of you for going to a gym, taking walks, consulting a psychologist, and being very open about the way your weight has restricted your lifestyle. Each step you take brings you closer to your dream. I know that you are going to succeed beyond your wildest expectations! I hope you will add visualization to your tools, and just keep seeing yourself taking that luxurious bubble bath, sitting in little chairs with arms, and owning a swimsuit! You are inspiring millions. Thank you!

Ruby, i am wondering why you never considered gastric bypass. I know
that it isn't the answer for everyone, but if you are really in danger it
seems like your doctors would have suggested it.
I have a thyroid disorder and have a huge fight with my weight. i think
you are doing a huge service for all of us with weigh problems by opening
peoples eyes as to the challenges we face.
I'm rooting for you - best of luck !!!
