ESPN.com to Walk Down Mayne Street

ESPN's Web site to launch first original Webisodes Nov. 11.

By John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 9/30/2008 11:43:00 AM

ESPN.com will launch its first original Webisodes Nov. 11.

Kenny Mayne

The series of three- to five-minute episodes of Mayne Street will feature ESPN on-air personality Kenny Mayne (SportsCenter, Sunday NFL Countdown) playing himself in what is described as a “fictionalized version" of life at the sports network, including some "special guest appearances."

While Mayne will play himself, although with tongue in cheek, his production crew will be played by actors. Also showing up on the shows will be ESPN personalities Scott Van Pelt and Neil Everett.

A decade ago, Aaron Sorkin took a crack at a fictionalized look at SportsCenter with the short-lived Sports Night, which aired on ESPN's sister network, ABC.
