Charles Gibson's interview with Alaska Gov. and Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin on Thursday's World News elevated the broadcast to its most-watched installment since February.

World News was watched by 9.73 million people with a 2.5 rating/10 share in the 25-54 demographic, according to Nielsen Media Research fast affiliate data.
That was more than 2 million more viewers than NBC's Nightly News (7.51 million viewers with a 2 rating/8 share in demo) and 3.57 million more viewers than CBS Evening News (6.15 million, 1.6/8).
Gibson's second interview with Palin on Thursday's Nightline gave the late-night news program a win over NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and CBS' Late Show with David Letterman in households. Nightline had a 4.2 household rating compared with Late Show's 3.6 and The Tonight Show's 3.3, according to Nielsen overnight metered-market data.
ABCNews.com racked up nearly 3 million page views and 600,000 video views of the Palin interviews through early Friday morning.
Gibson's interviews with Palin continue on Friday's World News and 20/20.
(The ratings are preliminary time-period numbers and may change when final data are collected.)

Palin is smoke and mirrors. I feel that Palin shot herself in the foot by her responses to Gibson by not being up to speed on the main issues. She is going after America's compassionate heart strings and not using her cerebral organ. Hillary Clinton did an excellent job of representing women both compassionately AND mentally and fighting for their unique issues. Whereas Palin reps a state with only the population of Bakersfield, Ca. Does that make the current mayor of that city a prime candidate also? McCain chose her because he knew that by himself his popularity was not strong enough to carry him. If Obama had chosen Clinton this election would be a slam dunk for the Democrats. As it is, McCain is a continuation of the last eight years of Bush, a pure failure. Just reflect on what's occured the last eight years. Do you want more? Are people dumb enough not to see that? Obama and Biden are the best ticket !

I agree full heartedly with the comments concerning the biased interview with Charlie and Palin. I am extremely disappointed in the way Gibson handled himself and will no longer consider myself one of his viewers. I just knew if anyone would interview Palin fairly it would be Charlie Gibson. How wrong I was! Sorry, Charlie! Hope you read all of these messages and know that you are accountable for the motives behind your actions!

I listened to a local radio show this morning and the host read the complete transcript from Charlie Gibson's interview with Sarah Palin. Palin's complete and thoughtful answers were edited out to make it appear as if she was providing ignorant clueless answers.Palin should only agree to future interviews if they are done live on tape! I am done with ABC news and their politcal agenda

The truth is out about Mrs. Palin! She is not only so under qualified to be a future vice president but has no right to put herself in the same catagory as Hillary. She has been spreading false information about the other party and has not given a clear plan about what her stance on important issues are. So far all that comes out of her mouth is "vote for the Maverick" and Hillary qoutes. At this time, we as Americans can not afford not to tell ourselves the truth. We need to educate ourselves with the facts about each sides. Take a look how it affects your personal life. Then make a educated vote. This is not a talent contest. The whole world is watching to see what america is going to do. Make the right choice.
