Meredith named Kirk Black senior vice president of Meredith Broadcasting Group.

He’ll continue to be VP and general manager at KCTV/KSMO Kansas City, and will mentor acting GMs Darrin McDonald at KVVU Las Vegas and Patrick McCreery at KPTV/KPDX Portland, Ore. (McCreery is running the duopoly’s day-to-day affairs so former VP/GM Kieran Clarke can focus on Meredith Video Solutions.)
Black joined Meredith in 1998 as GM of WNEM Saginaw, Mich., and shifted to Kansas City in 2001.
"Kirk Black has proven his ability to increase ratings and grow revenues during his career at Meredith,” Meredith Broadcasting Group president Paul Karpowicz said. “In addition to his continued management of our important Kansas City duopoly, this promotion will allow him to provide direction for promising leaders in the group.”
