CNN plans to dramatically expand its domestic newsgathering presence with new operations in 10 U.S. cities, the network said Tuesday.

The mini-bureaus will be located in Las Vegas; Philadelphia; Minneapolis; Orlando, Fla.; Phoenix; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; Denver; Houston; Seattle; and Columbus Ohio.
In addition to traditional general-assignment reporters and show-specific correspondents, they will also be staffed with “all-platform journalists,” who will focus on CNN’s digital platforms but also contribute to network coverage.
“Our technological innovations allow our reporters to be at the center of more breaking news events and developing stories across the United States, with greater independence and mobility than ever before,” said Nancy Lane, senior vice president of newsgathering for CNN, in a statement.
“This expansion is a critical component of CNN Worldwide’s overall strategy for increased content ownership,” she added.
