WRC Washington, D.C., launched real-time traffic service NBC Washington Traffic Cam, which accesses 450-plus live roadside cameras to provide real-time updates to commuters’ cellular phones and other mobile devices.

The NBC owned-and-operated station partnered with 3rd Dimension on the product, which has traffic information both inside the Beltway and in neighboring areas.

“Washington-area traffic is consistently ranked among the worst in the nation,” WRC president and general manager Michael Jack said. “We’re pleased to provide this useful service to help our viewers save time and ease frustration while they’re on the road.”

Users can sign up for the free, advertising-supported service via a link on nbc4.com or by calling a toll-free number.

WNBC New York launched its version, NBC New York Traffic Cam, last week.
