September Films said it secured the global rights to a documentary on the first man to give birth to a baby, and it looks like Discovery Communications will be delivering it to the United States.

Chris Finnegan, vice president of communications for Discovery Health, said his channel is in the process of finalizing a deal for exclusvie U.S. rights to the show.
Channel 4 will have the rights to the TV documentary in Britain and September is close to a deal with an outlet in Germany, the company said.
September said it got exclusive access to Thomas Beattie and his family for the show. Beattie is the transgender male from Bend, Ore., who kept his female sex organs in order to one day have children. He gave birth to a baby girl June 29.
Thomas -- formerly Tracy and a one-time beauty-pageant contestant -- said his decision to have a child has been met with derision and discrimination, according to the company. September said its documentary will chronicle his "sad childhood, transgender issues as a teen-ager and how he became the first man in the world to give birth."
That will include a look at the days leading up to the baby's birth, "through the proud hospital delivery of Thomas’ and Nancy's baby girl and finally the return home after the event to see how the couple cope with their new arrival in the glare of the world's media."
The documentary will be one hour and will include footage of the birth. There was no word yet on when the show will be ready for air.
