Former XM Satellite Radio executive vice president of programming Eric Logan is joining Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions as executive VP.

There, he will oversee Harpo Radio, Harpo Print and Harpo Retail and help to manage the company’s talent relations. He will also be charged with overseeing Harpo’s expansion into digital and mobile media, including working with Harpo Development on creating multimedia offerings for the company’s latest syndicated series, Dr. Oz.
Logan will relocate to Chicago to join Harpo in mid-August and will report to Harpo president Tim Bennett.
Harpo is also getting ready to launch OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network in partnership with Discovery Communications in 2009.
“I'm very excited to be joining Harpo at time when the future for the company has never been brighter. The opportunity to work with the entire organization on ways we can further grow our content offerings across all of our platforms and showcase our talent portfolio is truly an opportunity of a lifetime,” Logan said.
While at Washington, D.C.-based XM, Logan directed a staff of 400 to build the company’s radio-content platform. He negotiated content partnerships with such top providers as Major League Baseball, the PGA, CNN, Clear Channel Communications and Fox News Channel and with such top talent as Bob Dylan and Quincy Jones. He also worked with Harpo to create the Oprah & Friends channel on XM. Since Logan arrived at the company in August 2004, XM has grown from 2 million to 9 million subscribers.
"Over the past several years in our exciting partnership with XM Radio, we've seen Eric shine. From his ability to paint a picture of possibilities for Harpo in satellite radio to his gifted capability in working with both talent and teams, he has earned the respect of management across our growing company," Bennett said in a statement.
