Dish Adds More Local HD Signals
Satellite-TV provider adds Grand Rapids, Mich.; Memphis, Tenn.

Satellite operator Dish Network added HD signals from local broadcast stations in Grand Rapids, Mich., and Memphis, Tenn., as it makes steady progress toward its previously stated goal of carrying 100 HD local markets and 100 HD national channels by year-end.

With the addition of Grand Rapids and Memphis, Dish is now carrying HD locals from 61 markets with combined signals reaching 68% of U.S. TV households.
Dish plans to add 22 HD local markets throughout the summer and fall: Abilene, Texas; Albany, N.Y.; Beaumont, Texas; Chattanooga, Tenn.; Columbia-Jefferson, Mo.; Des Moines, Iowa; Fargo, N.D.; Greenville, N.C.; Joplin, Mo.; Lansing, Mich.; Lincoln, Neb.; Madison, Wis.; Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Omaha, Neb.; Quincy, Ill.; Sherman-Ada, Texas-Okla.; South Bend, Ind.; Syracuse, N.Y.; Topeka, Kan.; Waco, Texas; Wichita Falls, Texas; and Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
“Throughout the remainder of the year, Dish Network will continue adding a variety of HD services -- local markets, national channels, on-demand and pay-per-view -- so our subscribers can enjoy the best technology, value and programming,” said Eric Sahl, senior vice president of programming for Dish, in a statement.
