Pablo Raúl Alarcon Dies at 82
Spanish Broadcasting System Founder Had Been Chairman from March 1983-November 1999

Pablo Raúl Alarcon, founder of Spanish Broadcasting System and father of SBS chairman and CEO Raúl Alarcon Jr., died at his home in Miami. He was 82.

Alarcon Sr. was chairman of SBS from March 1983-November 1999, when he became a director of the company and chairman emeritus.
SBS was Alarcon's second broadcasting group. His 14-radio station group in Cuba was seized by the government. He came to New York in 1960, where he was an on-air personality at radio station WBNX. He bought his first radio station, WSKQ New York, in 1983, the same year he launched SBS.
SBS currently owns 21 radio stations, Mega TV and Lamusica.com.
In addition to his son, Alarcon is survived by his wife, Alma.
