Dr. Phil Developing Talker Around Pastor T.D. Jakes

Stage 29 Productions Eyes Fall-2009 Debut for Show Featuring Leader of The Potter’s House

Stage 29 Productions -- the production company of Dr. Phil McGraw and his son, Jay -- is developing a talk show around evangelical pastor T.D. Jakes, who makes frequent appearances on CBS’ Dr. Phil. The show would be for fall 2009.

T.D. Jakes

Jakes already has a huge following. In February 2005, he was named one of the “25 Most Influential Evangelicals in America” by Time magazine. He founded and leads The Potter’s House, a multiracial, nondenominational mega-church based in Dallas. His massive empire stretches much further than the church, which now boasts more than 30,000 members.

Jakes and The Potter’s House also reach people by means of major conferences, such as “The Pastors’ and Leadership Conference,” “ManPower,” “Woman, Thou Art Loosed” and “MegaFest” -- all of which are meant to address the emotional and spiritual needs of participants. Woman, Thou Art Loosed -- based on one of Jakes’ 30 books -- set national indoor attendance records at the Georgia Dome in 1999 when an average of 84,500 people attended each day.
