CMT Orders Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling

Reality Series to Pit 10 Celebrities Against One Another

By Alex Weprin -- Broadcasting & Cable, 5/2/2008 8:19:00 AM

CMT gave the green light to Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling. The reality series will pit 10 celebrities against one another as they train and compete in a series of challenges, with one winner named “celebrity all-star wrestling champion.”

Hogan, who also hosts American Gladiators on NBC, will host the show and serve as an executive producer.

"I am excited to have this opportunity at CMT to get the chance to run wild with their audience. As I looked at the sports-entertainment landscape, I realized it was time to shake things up from the traditional formats people have become used to seeing,” Hogan said in a statement. The audience is ready for something different and more contemporary, and through my partnership with Bischoff-Harvey Entertainment and CMT, that's exactly what were gonna do."

The eight-episode series will debut on CMT in the fall.
