‘Unruly’ Boston GM Randi Goldklank Getting Treatment

WHDH/WLVI Boston vice president and general manager Randi Goldklank, who is on administrative leave following her arrest after an altercation on an airline Sunday, is undergoing medical treatment.
Goldklank claimed that a male passenger took an empty seat next to her on a flight to Boston while she slept and touched her in an “inappropriate area.” When she became unruly, the airline contacted state troopers to meet the plane upon its landing at Logan Airport, and Goldklank was arrested.
"Randi Goldklank is an outstanding broadcast executive with a record of great success,” Sunbeam Television president Ed Ansin said in a statement. “The unfortunate events of last Sunday night were unanticipated, and Ms. Goldklank is deeply regretful. She is currently undergoing medical treatment and is on administrative leave from the company. We wish her a speedy recovery, as do her many friends in Boston and throughout the broadcasting industry.”
According to the police report, Goldklank told emergency medical technicians she had consumed “about three-dozen drinks” that day. The report said she was abusive to the arresting officers and threatened them with negative news coverage, telling them, “Leave me alone, do you know who the [redacted] I am? I’ll have a news crew down here in minutes, and you will lose your [redacted] jobs, you [redacted].” She also told a sergeant, “My station is going to put you on TV and ruin your life.”
Ansin said Mike Carson, who was consulting for WHDH and sister WLVI following his retirement as GM, will temporarily resume his previous responsibilities.

maybe making assumptions about the motives behind the actions of someone in their darkest hour isn't in the best interest of people with too much time on their hands surfing the net (most likely while on the clock). Patty, thank you for your opinion on whether or not addiction played a role in the arrest. You provided some great, in depth insight on what you just resd 2 mins ago in the article. Oh, and PS - While we in the business of exposing problems here, maybe you should get some help for your own addiction to run-on sentences.
Get a life everyone, and get off Randi's back.

As a TV station owner and manager, I've always advised my executives to behave themselves, particularly when they are in their own markets. Those that ignored that advice usually came to regret it.
The media is too important and too visible to permit openly obnoxious and self-important behavior from its executives.

She obviously does not deserve her position nor her salary. There are a lot of hard working people out there who would have grabbed this golden ring on the ladder of success and climbed with hard work, dedication and appreciation. She acted like a self centered spoiled brat and she has brought shame to all of us.
Maybe she has a problem with addiction, but I really doubt that. I think she has a problem with being too into herself and being too self important and she has long ago lost the ability to feel empathy and that makes her a danger to herself and others.
