TelevisionWithoutPity.com, TVGuide.com Add Video

TelevisionWithoutPity.com to Add Original Specials, Series; TVGuide.com to Add Breaking News

By Anne Becker -- Broadcasting & Cable, 2/4/2008 11:19:00 AM

Two network-owned, TV-themed sites said Monday that they would add more video content -- TelevisionWithoutPity.com, owned by NBC Universal’s Bravo Media, and TVGuide.com, owned by Gemstar-TV Guide International.

The Week Without Pity

TelevisionWithoutPity.com, the snarky TV-recap site, will add video content and an original series to its reviews. TVGuide.com will add breaking-news video from nine Web sites -- Time Warner’s TMZ.com and CNN.com, as well as MSN.com, ABC, CBS, NBC, E! Online, BET and iVillage.

TelevisionWithoutPity.com will add video over the next few months, including original specials and series such as The Week Without Pity, a weekly rehash of TV events, which is available now.

"Our goal is to make Television Without Pity a premiere destination for TV lovers and to offer our audience multiple ways to view their favorite content," Bravo Media vice president of digital strategy Mari Katsunuma said in a statement. "The site presents a great opportunity for us to use our voice and create something perfectly on-brand, as well as being a fantastic way to attract a new audience."

TVGuide.com is adding the news video to its Online Video Guide, which currently catalogs content from some 60 Web sites from broadcast, cable and other entertainment entities. The news content joins as part of an overall redesign of TVGuide.com that prioritizes news content and photos on the site.

“The Online Video Guide’s inclusion of more news sites is a critical part of TVGuide.com’s breaking-news initiative,” TV Guide Online senior VP and general manager Paul Greenberg said in a statement. “Our users look to us for the latest information on their favorite shows, celebrities, and news, and providing them with easy access to relevant videos is key to serving their needs.”
