The Montel Williams Show to End Original Production
CBS Television Distribution Confirms that Talker Will Wrap Up at End of Season

After months of rumors, CBS Television Distribution confirmed Wednesday that The Montel Williams Showwill go out of production at the end of this season.

Instead, CBS will sell stations a "best-of" package for next fall, a la Sony's all-barter Judge Hatchett. With 17 years of episodes in the can, CBS will be able to give stations 52 straight weeks of episodes, or 260 episodes with no repeats.
The show will be sold on an all-cash basis, which means that stations will get an extra three-and-one-half minutes of advertising inventory in each show. That equals seven more 30-second spots per day, or 35 more 30-second spots per week, said John Nogawski, co-president and chief operating officer of CTD.
"Stations need to analyze it from a return-on-investment point of view,” he added. “Assuming the show's ratings stay the same, this could be a more profitable situation for them."
Nogawski also said CBS would pitch the show to interested cable networks.
Meanwhile, the show's host will stay on the air even though his show will no longer tape: "I can't say thank you enough to those who've welcomed me into their homes for the past 17 years,” Williams said. “It has been both an honor and a joy.”

What can be said but I'm one person who will miss the Montel Williams Show. I've been retired for just a few number of years and finally was able to watch day time television. But to find something worth watching during the day was hard to do and The Montel Show was a show that had something on for most any age group. He said it just like it is with NO sugar coding. Sylvia will also be missed. So now I see I could watch Judge Hatchett well NO Thank you! Thank goodness I am able to turn the television OFF when I want and CBS is a channel I shall never watch again. Nothing but garbage and lies from the networks. It's a shame to see what has become of our country and the news media like CBS are the ones at fault. I will turn to reading books and the bible.

I can't believe that Montel is leaving regardless of the reason. I agree with the person that said CBS (in our area) is committing suicide. He has helped more people than anyone else in talk TV. WHY WHY WHY.. Someone please reconsider.

I have to say CBS has done it again & MESSED WITH SOMETHING GREAT! It's become a really self-indulgentg company that has, FOR PURE GREED, given up on MANY SUCCESSFUL media "personalities" all OVER U.S.A.! This is including the Detroit radio station 97.1 Free FM. They are NOW pulling all stops for "corporate profits" ONLY!!!
EVERYONE who were avid listeners have stopped listening. WHO WANTS RERUN SPORTS 24/7????
CBS now stands for Can-Buy-Show! I wonder IF this will be posted!
