The Daily Buzz Goes Local
ACME Communications Adding Two Local-Segment Opportunities to Each Hour

Syndicated morning program The Daily Buzz is adding two local-segment opportunities to each hour beginning March 3.

The inserts allow partner stations to provide more local programming to viewers, while giving them opportunities to lure in community advertisers.
Daily Buzz owner ACME Communications said the decision was due in part to the Federal Communications Commission’s hopes for more local fare.
“We’ve developed these new insert opportunities to help meet the growing interest in locally relevant content within the communities our program reaches,” said Daily Buzz general manager Sandi Yost Gehrig, “and to provide an appealing, broader news-selling component to the advertisers.”
The inserts are optional: If the station does not wish to add its own segments, Daily Buzz can fill the time “with more of the edgy and humorous content for which they are known,” according to ACME.
Florida-based Daily Buzz launched in 2002. Some stations are already finding success with their local inserts. WBUW Madison, Wis., for one, has host Emmy Fink fronting “Buzzed into Madison” segments during the Buzz broadcast.
