NBA Jumps Into Joost

By Glen Dickson -- Broadcasting & Cable, 12/17/2007 9:48:00 AM

The National Basketball Association launched a channel on new Internet television service Joost.

Kobe Bryant's 81-point game

The NBA Channel on Joost will show replays of entire NBA games and video-highlight packages for the remainder of the 2007-08 NBA season.

As part of the NBA's deal with Joost, the NBA Channel will feature complete replays of memorable NBA games, including the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant’s 81-point game against the Toronto Raptors Jan. 22, 2006, and game five of the 2007 Eastern Conference Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons, in which the Cavaliers’ LeBron James scored the final 25 points to lead his team to victory.

Along with such "Instant Classics," the NBA Channel on Joost will include a wide variety of “Top 10” lists from the NBA Video Vault, and it will be updated with new programming throughout the season.

“The NBA is always looking to further engage our fans around the world and expand our digital offerings with innovative products like Joost,” said Attila Gazdag, NBA senior vice president of global media distribution, in a statement. “With the new NBA Channel on Joost, we offer our fans yet another platform to experience all the action of the NBA in a full-screen, high-quality environment.”
