LIN TV filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission against cable operator Atlantic Broadband, claiming that Atlantic is airing the signal of LIN station WIVB Buffalo, N.Y., without its OK.

LIN called it a “flagrant violation” and said it “expects that Atlantic Broadband will immediately cease its unlawful carriage of the station.”
“It is unfortunate that Atlantic Broadband is not conforming to the retransmission-consent provisions as mandated by the FCC,” LIN executive vice president of digital media Gregory M. Schmidt said. “We hope they will reconsider their position and agree to negotiate with us for retransmission consent.”
LIN threatened to yank its signal should Atlantic not comply with its demands, saying that Atlantic “will deprive its subscribers of top-rated local news, along with the Buffalo Bills [National Football League] games and other popular programming.”
Atlantic did not offer a comment at press time. The company Web site described it as “a privately held company with headquarters in Quincy, Mass. The company has more than 650 employees and 285,000 customers in four operating regions: Florida, Maryland/Delaware, South Carolina and western Pennsylvania.”
