Freedom's Watch Complains to NBC About Ad Denial
Network Rejected Ad Due to URL Linking to Conservative Policy Lobby's Web Site
By John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 12/7/2007 2:27:00 PM
Conservative policy lobby Freedom’s Watch wrote NBC to complain about the network’s decision not to run a series of ads thanking the troops and asking others to do the same.
NBC said it rejected the adds because of a URL that linked to the group’s Web site, which the network said turned it into an issue ad.
The network has a long-standing policy against airing ads on controversial subjects. In a letter to NBC, the group asked the Federal Communications Commission to better explain the decision.

bogus reason. nbc gave 34 commercial free hours to al gore for his global warming fraud...how political is that? they'll back down...public outcry will prevail.

This is nuts. NBC should be running the ads. The actual spots do not take a political postion other than saying thanks to the troops. It list the groups website but just that. Frankly, should ads for the academy awards be banned because the actual ceremony always has someone bashing Bush? How about banning any ad for Hillary since her website calls for a politcal position? What of an ad for a Babs album since her website takes a politcal position?
