Carl Bernstein Joins CNN as Analyst
Watergate Journalist to Contribute to Cable News Network’s 2008 Election Coverage

Iconic journalist Carl Bernstein, no stranger to CNN's airwaves already, will be even less of one.

Bernstein, who broke the Watergate scandal with colleague Bob Woodward, will join CNN as an analyst for the 2008 election season.
“CNN has demonstrated time and again a sincere effort to go beyond the political horserace,” Bernstein said in a statement. “My hope is to examine the real lives and records of the candidates and look at how these people -- and their political machines -- try to win votes, influence the media and use the electoral system to their maximum advantage. I’m thrilled at the opportunity to have CNN’s broad reach in doing so.”
As part of the agreement, Bernstein will appear on CNN’s full lineup of broadcast and election coverage.
Earlier this year, Bernstein wrote the book A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton. He is also a contributing editor to Vanity Fair, and he co-authored (with Woodward) All the President’s Men and The Final Days.

CNN...the most disonest of all media outlets...next to the NYTimes....why would they not let this pinhead into the fold.

Congratulations to CNN on the recent hire of award-winning Journalist Carl Bernstein. I look forward to hearing from Mr. Bernstein''s "encyclopedia of political knowledge" on the different issues and candidates as the upcoming 2008 Presidential Campaign begins to register with the national audience.
After months of both political parties beating up on it''s own candidates, the most important voices will be heard soon: The Voters.
As someone who has followed Presidential Campaigns since Kennedy-Nixon in 1960, I''ve learned to ignore the thirty second soundbites from the Primary through the General Election season.
I "ignore" the spin after watching a debate and having the likes of a James Carville, Bob Schrum, or Mike Murphy "pontificate" on and on about who won and who lost. Please don''t insult the viewer''s intelligence by telling millions watching who looked or sounded more Presidential.
Hopefully, a fresher face like Mr. Bernstein''s will cut through the "endless chatter" of the "recycled" commentary of the SAME "experts" millions have watched since the 1992 election.
CNN has now hired Campbell Brown and Carl Bernstein.
I look forward to watching with interest from two talented and experienced individuals who bring a "breath of fresh air" to the national debate on what promises to be the most important Presidential election since Kennedy-Nixon.
