The company said Friday that it was notified by the Federal Trade Commission that the agency closed an investigation without taking any action. The investigation, launched in April 2006, had been into XM’s marketing and customer-service practices.

XM is still awaiting word from the Justice Department and the Federal Communications Commission on whether it will be allowed to merge with Sirius Satellite Radio. The FCC recently asked for a raft of information on both companies' business practices.
