WGA Preps Rockefeller Plaza Crowd for Strike
Writers Guild of America East Members Hand Out Fliers Outside NBC Headquarters

Writers Guild of America East members -- almost 100 of them, according to the guild -- were in Rockefeller Plaza, home of NBC, in New York Friday handing out fliers outlining their grievances as a strike with producers looms.

The TV-writers union was scheduled to announce its next step Friday after negotiations with producers over a new contract -- the old one expired Oct. 31 -- broke off.
Sounding like it was preparing viewers for a strike, the fliers read:
"We are the Writers Guild.
"We write your favorite sitcoms, dramas, late-night shows, soap operas, movies, and more. We work hard to bring you our best in entertainment.
"Our contract expired yesterday and negotiations with our employers have broken down.
"The studios and networks make billions from the content we create. All we want is our fair share. They have refused. We don’t want to strike, but we must defend the standards of our profession. We ask for your understanding and your support."
If it happens, the strike could begin as early as Sunday or Monday.
